About
A full description of this podcast coming soon including an explanation of what the title means. I’ll think of some really cool tag line as well. A good chunk of my professional life has been misspent in a cubicle. Thankfully in my current job I have an office. So I have escaped my cubicle of hell. I worked in a call center in my previous job and I’ll have more to say on that later. Think Stalag 17 for the moment.
Who am I? Christopher Merle. I go by Chris. I am a long time science fiction fan recently turned podcaster. My first podcast was The Conestoga Podcast (now at 31 episodes). I’ve interviewed authors, artists, fans, and the people who put the conventions on. I was inspired to do a podcast after a chance meeting on a train in Scotland. It was shortly after WorldCon 2005 in Glasgow. I met Paul Fischer and his wife Martha Holloway and he told me about this cool new thing called podcasting and his Balticon Podcast.
My dayjob is as a web developer/administrator. I recently became a Python aficionado until then I was a Perl enthusiast. I’ve also dabbled in PHP mostly tweaking WordPress which by the way is one of the best content management systems I’ve used. Yes, it is primarily a blogging tool, but there are plug-ins that will allow you to turn it into what I like to refer to it as a poor man’s CMS.
More later.
It’s later here’s a simple 300×300 logo:

I’ll be using music, pictures, and audio that is free to use as long as I credit them. The picture I used on the front page incorporates is from a public domain picture of a cubicle. The favicon.ico I use is the cube from e107 CMS system which is pretty cool. I’m using WordPress and the skin is modified from Mushblue by Mukka Mu. Music used so far is a free loop from Partners in Rhyme.
