How can you have a podcast with no podcasts? Uhm, you can’t. I recorded three interviews at Archon 31/NASFIC/Tuckercon. I also met some other podcasters including Tee Morris and the Fear the Boot crew. I had a great time and plan to attend more Archons in the future. I wonder how many Star Trek jokes they’ve heard at their expense? You know the episode ‘The Return of the Archons’: “You are not of the body” blah, blah, blah.
Expect them realsoonnow. Anyway, I will be posting a short podcast intro by the end of the week. If you can’t wait, then listen to the Conestoga Podcast, my other podcast. It features interviews with writers, artists, and fans.
No commentsDay 2
It’s the second day of Archon 31 and I’m having a great time. I finally met up with Dan of Fear the Boot and Tee Morris. Darrell Flynn of Archon has been very helpful. I even got a press ribbon to put on my badge. Woohoo!
Anyway, I’ll get to meet more podcasters later this afternoon. I’ve already recorded my first interview, and I’ve several more scheduled (that’s pronounced SHED-YULED). Listeners can expect the first one in no more than two weeks. I’m also attending Lani Tupu and Tee Morris’ screenwriting workshop on Sunday, so I’m keeping the number of podcasts I record low.
Also note that you can overdo and record a lot of podcasts at a con, but then you have to edit them and that can take a long time. I overdid it at Conestoga 10, but kept them down to a manageable level at Conestoga 11.
I will record a promo once I have a tag line. Suggestions? Audio coming realsoonnow! More later.
Chris

I’ll be recording my first interviews for my new podcast at Archon 31 this year. I appreciate Darrell Flynn on the Archon con com and Dan of Fear The Boot podcast four allowing me to participate. My interview list is full up, but should that change I’ll let the organizers and interested potential interviewees know that.
If you want a taste of what to expect take a listen to some of my interviews on the Conestoga Podcast. And there are lots of new podcasts recorded at Conestoga 11 on the way. Including one with the lemur incident.

Welcome to Escape from Cubicle 17, a new podcast from the creator of the Conestoga Podcast, Chris Merle. Me. I wanted to call it the Green Room Podcast but someone else already has it, Green Room Radio. After bouncing some ideas off of some friends, I came up with this title. It’s generic and sounds cool and hints at escaping the drudgery of the real word. Well, at least I think so. I did another Google search and did not find a podcast by that name. I did find a blog entitled Cublice 17 and a blog/podcast Escape from Cubicle Nation. This has nothing to do with either of theirs. Nor does it have anything to do with the wonderful Escape Pod either
This podcast will start off being the same format as the Conestoga Podcast. It’s focus will be on science fiction and fantasy fandom and the authors and artists who come to meet their fans at science fiction conventions. Don’t worry the Conestoga Podcast won’t go away soon. I do plan add some new segments to this one.
What does the title Escape from Cublice 17 mean? I’m not sure but I’ll make up something that sounds plausible. More to come.
